Site Map & Visual Devastation

Important Notice – All images reproduced on this site have been professionally created and produced, completely true to scale, following and strictly applying recognised industry standards, duly representing the sizes and proportions involved, as well as representing fully realistic visualisations of how the landscapes and turbines will be seen, from various locations throughout our region.

.Proposed Site for Wind Turbines

Detail of locations of the Turbines as informed by Statkraft in Promotional Leaflets.

The Resulting Visual Devastation

The short animated clips below give a realistic dimensional representation, clearly depicting how these Turbines will appear like on the currently pristine landscape.

The visual devastation of the landscape, as will be seen from Lyle Hill in Gourock, some 8 miles away. This will be very clearly visible from many regions and communities along the Clyde Firth and beyond!

This is a further disturbing view that will be seen from Kilmun looking towards Sandbank.

In particular pay attention to the sizes of the buildings that can be seen along the shoreline, with the Turbines above on the hill !

Also of considerable concern is the proximity of these items to the Sandank township, being less that a mile from Turbines to residential properties,

Health concerns with respect to the local population must also be a priority, given the worrisome information available concerning the possible detrimental effects the Turbines can have on the health, and wellbing, of those living in close proximity of such an industrial scale installation such as this proposed site.

Above a representation of what will be the view over the Holy Loch by Kilmun Arboretum (Note the relative size of the buidings compared to the Turbines)

Above, a further representation of the view as will be seen from Kilmun Pier looking over in the diresction of Sandbank.

Above, this will be the horrendous veiw as will be seen from the Western Ferry Terminal, Mc. Inroy]s Point, Gourock.

Drone Pictures taken at Giant´s Burn Location

The images below were taken using a drone, flying at the maximum ‘free’ altitude of 120m, – 80 m less than the projected 200m (656ft) height of the proposed turbines.

These images show the extensive areas where the visual impact would be significant, often acute, these including the ferry routes across the Firth of Clyde.

Above- Tthe view South towards Innellan, Wemyss Bay, the Cumbraes & Eastern Bute

Above view shows much of Inverclyde, Dumbarton, -even parts of Glasgow.

This image shows Sandbank, Kilmun and Loch Eck, where the visual impact would be severe.

How Tall are the Turbines ?

As previously seen on this site these Turbines are to be 200 metres (650 feet) in height !

What will this look like in comparisson to well known landmarks and other items, The first image below uses a Turbine reference of the same height as those proposed for Giant´s Burn.

From the slide below, and for easy refernce, you will be able to appreciate that each Turbine will be more than twice the height of Big Ben Clock Tower at the Houses of Parliament

For yet further reference please note that the tallest mountain in Scotland, and the UK, is of course Ben Nevis, and where these Turbines are planned to be installed they will represent an “eyesore” of roughly half the heigh of the UK´s tallest mountain !

This second image provides comparisson of the dimensions of a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet with a similar Wind Turbine, considerably smaller at 125 metres (410 Feet) in height, when compared to the 200 Metres (650 Feet) for this complex.
